lwright Good value and easy assembly. Quick shipping was a major plus!

eosuchian This is a nice-looking cabinet, but I have a few complaints. The packaging was so sloppy that it was hard to find all the hardware scattered throughout the box. Also, the cardboard seemed inadequate for the very heavy weight of the contents which seems to have caused postal carriers to add multiple layers of tape to weak corners. Despite this, the cardboard was pretty banged up and the styrofoam inside had crumbled to the point where it was providing little protection to the delicate veneer-covered surfaces, and in fact I found damage had occurred during shipment. I would have considered returning this item if it weren't so heavy and impossible to re-pack. Now that it's assembled, I'm glad I have it, but I was pretty nervous for a while that I'd made a big mistake. One other thing: the catalog describes this as a letter-size cabinet. It is not. It's legal size, with an option of narrowing to letter size. This should be mentioned in the catalog description.

tarien Would have given it another star if it wasn't for the damage. The overall look is nice, but the quality of the metal sliders could be better. One of the sliders is not staying in place and sliding well. A ball bearing from that slider also fell out. The drawers do not close very evenly, you have to push to adjust the closer. The package arrived damaged by UPS, and when we finally opened it, we discovered that there was about a 3 square inch of wood/paint damage to one of the side panels. The file cabinet was on back order for a few months. Since the damage was on a side we had against a wall, we decided not to deal with an exchange. Who knows if it would be another few months before we could get a replacement. Also, it would have been difficult to put everything back in the damaged box since we were already in the middle of putting it together, which really needs at least 2 people to do...plus it's really heavy.

ThriftyMommy The individual pieces that make up this unit are good qualtiy. However, the item is assembled with mostly small screws, which wouldn't be so bad, except many of the pre-drilled holes were too big and caused many screws to remain loose. Having assembled many furniture units, I was careful not to "over screw," and used a hand screwdriver, instead of a cordless drill, but it was still a problem. Additionally, the cam locks provided were a cheaper quality than cam locks I used with furniture purchased elsewhere. I am tempted to take the piece apart and reassemble using larger screws. The assembly was NOT difficult, but the method of assembly should be improved.

jackieO I bought this file for my mom as a birthday gift. It had a lot of hardware, so I asked my husband to put it together for me. I thought it looked very nice, like a piece of furniture instead of a file cabinet. My mother loved it and was impressed with the looks of it. She has it in her gest bedroom and because it looks like a piece of furniture, it is doubling as a lamp table also. Her best friend liked it so much she is ordering the same exact one for herself. I would definitely recommed this file to anyone. I would have either help or some one that is good at putting things together handy though, there is a lot of hardware to essemble.

dolly I love the oxford collection as far as looks go. This is the only contemporary yet somewhat traditional black furniture I could find. Pottery Barn has similar home office furniture but it is a bit too country for my taste.

Although the look of the black with silver hardware & square lines is sleek the quality of the furniture is average. The drawers do not slide easily and the piece is not weighted properly. If you have the top and middle drawer open at same time it will tip over.

The appearance was more important to me than the quality...if quality is more important and you want beautifully sliding drawers...I would not reccommend.

dsy77 My husband put this together and found it a bit more complicated than the usual piece of furniture due to the sliders for the drawers. Also, a couple of the cams were broken and unuseable so we had to wait another 1.5 weeks for them to send replacements.

Overall the file cabinet looks good, but we are disappointed that it didn't fit together very tightly and feels somewhat unstable and wobbily. After putting in the file folders, we also noticed that if you have more than one drawer open the weight will cause the entire cabinet will tip forward, so definitely use caution. Overall...you get what you can expect for the cost.

redhead123 Overall this is a very nice piece. My husband put it together with relative ease and the use of a power screwdriver and hand screwdriver. However I would not have done such a good job if I had attempted the assembly myself. The only thing I found out as I was transferring my files to the drawers was that it will easily tip over if you have the top drawer and bottom drawer open at the same time. It would have been better if there was a feature on it that only allowed one drawer to open at a time. It does come with a wall bracing kit, which I guess we'll have to use once we figure out where it will "live".

Laura2928 I checked a lot of stores and file cabinets before I settled on this one. I needed to match the look of other furniture in an office/spare bedroom, so I was limited in terms of style. Other similar 2-drawer white file cabinets were generally more expensive, and since I've always had good luck with Home Decorators, I chose to place my order with them. The cabinet is very attractive and sturdy and the hardware is solid and expensive looking. We had a minor problem with the top piece - the cam lock went through the top, buckling the wood. I called Home Decorators and got a replacement quickly and easily.
