gigi I use this when the diaper trash can is full & I have no more bag, it doesn't stink or leak of it accidentally forget to properly close the diaper.

Mike The item I received is not what is shown, I've attached pictures to the review to show this. I received three Diaper Genie refills in a Diaper Genie II refill box. I am unsure of the differences between the refills and they do work with our Diaper Genie II however they seem to be inferior in quality and odor protection. In the future I will purchase the correct refills at brick and mortar stores to ensure I get what I want. I don't know if this false advertising was the fault of diapers.com or Playtex but I know that buying it in the store is the only reliable solution.

Ashley I received the Diaper Genie II Elite as a shower gift in 2008 with my first child and have always used the refills that can be used for either/or. I've never had any issues with them and my nursery has never smelled of diapers. In 2010, a friend gave me a Diaper Genie I for my daughter's room and the refills works just as well with it. I think the problem many parents make the mistake of making is they let the bags get super full with diapers; and though the bags will allow for really full capacity, it just makes common sense that nasty smells will eventually leak out over time if you don't dispose of the dirty diapers within a couple of days. Also, many folks don't realize that you should dump the feces into the toilet as much as you can, then wrap the diaper up tightly with its own adhesive tabs and then put in the Diaper Genie. This is not only a more sanitary disposal, but it will also help on cutting down any bad smells that might leak out in the event you fail to remove the full Diaper Genie bag. Some may argue that "Well, what's the point of even buying the Diaper Genie if I have to dump the poo beforehand - not very convenient?" My only answer is to either use a regular trash can or take the chance that it just may leak a smell if you don't take the proper steps to prevent it. It's a good product that does what it's supposed to do... as long as the user does what he or she is supposed to do.

ER'sMommy I have owned a Diaper Genie II Elite for a mere seven months and can no longer get refills for it anywhere. Playtex claims the "new" refills are compatible and yes, the cartridge does fit inside the Diaper Genie II Elite pail. This, however, is where the compatibility stops. The clamp inside the pail DOES NOT CLOSE all the way with this "new" refill so odor is no longer contained. You will not be able to find the better refills anywhere and -- trust me -- Playtex doesn't care. I have spoken with them twice. Don't be fooled by this "new" refill if you own a Diaper Genie II or a Diaper Genie II Elite pail. Oh and yes, every store does ship the "new" -- and bad -- refills in a Diaper Genie II box.

cbeachbetty I love this product. The whole line of products. I have been using them since my baby sitting days and this model is the best yet. However the three pack is only a good deal if you have a 20% off coupon if not they are sold cheeper individualy at the big bargin stores.

Caring parent I big shout out to "scratched my eye ball" for the warning they provided in their review. After reading their harrowing account of what happened when opening the container, I started wearing protective eye wear. Well sure enough, just the other evening I was replacing the liner in my diaper genie when the plastic tab snapped back with enough of a recoil that it knocked the glasses off my face. I truly believe had I not been wearing my glasses I would be writing this review with one good eye.

Aside from that, this is an excellent product. These refills hold a considerable amount and trap in all the odor. All in all a great product.

Happy Mommy Some people have indicated that Diaper Genie and the refills are expensive, but I think they are well worth the money. Disposal of diapers and wipes is hands free, and the nursery has never smelled like diapers in 8 months. It is easy to empty and easy to change refills. I highly recommend this for every parent of a child who is changed on a changing table. Due to it's height, it won't be quite as convenient if you are always changing diapers on the floor, but it will still keep the area odor free.

Me I love this system! I have a 1 yr old, and its not something he can easily get into, but its def not complicated to use as an adult. Easy to refill, easy to empty when full...

Never used the first Genie, so I can't compare the newest (which I use) with the original, but would def recommend! I wish it were a little bigger, so that it held more diapers, but its prob better that I have to empty frequently :)

Norma the super mom My husband and I love this product. This diaper pail is so convenient and easy to use. It takes less than 3 minutes to empty and refill with no mess at all. And there's no bad odor at all which is great since we only empty it about twice a week. [...]Otherwise you're better off buying the individual ring at a less expensive retail stores.
